ALERT: New OCPS Laptop Policy for Middle School

We hope you have had a wonderful summer! we are excited to welcome you to Bridgewater for the 2025-2026 school year. Please make sure to join us for our “Meet the Teacher” event on Thursday, August 7th. The campus will be open from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. for you to visit classrooms, interact with teachers and staff, make purchases from the Spirit Store, and gain information from School partners and YMCA before and after school zone. If you can’t make it to this event, the first day of school, which is Monday, August 11th.

As we prepare for another successful school year, we would like to inform you of a slight change in daily instruction as it pertains to the use of digital devices (laptops). Orange County Public Schools is moving to a model in middle schools where all students will be provided with access to an assigned laptop within their classrooms only. Students will no longer be assigned personal laptops to bring home for the year. Laptops will only be checked out to students who require them for homework needs and are to be checked back in the following morning. This change will ensure that devices are available for daily instruction, remain in good working condition, and are consistently charged and ready for student use. Again, students will no longer be provided oPS laptops to be carried from class to class or to take home unless the student checks it out at the end of the day for homework purposes only. Laptops will still be available for student use in each of their assigned classes.

Thank you for your understanding and support as we continue to create a productive, supportive, and responsive learning environment. we understand this is an unexpected change in systems; however, we ask for patience as we work to implement these new district expectations. All websites students typically access on OPS devices are also accessible on home computers. Students may need to sign in to their Google account first using their OCPS student email account. If you choose to have your student bring their personal device to and from school, please use the information below to ensure that the device adheres to the specifications that OCPS requires.
